The Newfoundland Growlers start a six-game road trip with visits to familiar North Division foes in the Worcester Railers and Adirondack Thunder this weekend.

Newfoundland arrive in Worcester having hosted the Railers last week for a three-game set at the Mary Brown’s Centre – one which the Growlers swept thanks to a thrilling 6-4 victory last Saturday night.

Thanks to some hot play of late against divisional competition, the Growlers have locked down first place in the North and sit six points clear of the second place Reading Royals.

Worcester spent the majority of the opening three months of the season near the top of the league standings but have since plummeted all the way down to fourth in the North Division. Winners of just one of their last 11 contests, the Railers do still have five wins in their nine meetings with the Growlers this season to lean on heading into the 10th meeting between the two.

Adirondack have sat in 6th place in the North virtually since opening night and yet own a 5-3-2 record in their last 10 games played. Winning two of the three games the Growlers came to Glens Falls for earlier in the season, the Thunder hope to retain their title as a bogey team for Newfoundland.

Puck drops is set for 8:35 pm Friday in Worcester before the Growlers head to Glens Falls, NY for an 8:30 pm Saturday/4:30 pm Sunday evening doubleheader with Adirondack. Fans can watch all three games live on FloSports (subscription required), listen to the call on Mixlr, or follow along on Twitter (@NLGrowlers) for game updates and highlights.

NFL – Pavel Gogolev (F): Finding another level to his game in his second partial season with the Growlers, Gogolev hasn’t let his production drop amid his evolution as a pro player. His 1.52 points per game is 4th best in the ECHL.
