TOP 10 MOMENTS OF 2021-22 — #9: NETTING TEN IN TROIS-RIVIÉRES

9) Netting Ten In Trois-Rivières

One element that has been consistent through all three seasons of Growlers hockey is the club’s ability to score goals.

Heading into the 2021-22 season, the Growlers’ previous record for goals scored in a single game was nine, initially set late in the pandemic-shortened 2019-20 ECHL season on March 1, 2020 in Jacksonville.

It felt like only a matter of time before the Growlers were able to hit double-digit goals in a single game and that day came on Feb. 27, 2022 in Trois-Rivières against the Lions.

The Growlers came out flying with a red-hot start and jumped out to a 4-0 lead before the end of the first period. They tacked on another five goals in the second period and added two more in the third period en route to an eye-popping 10-3 victory at the Videotron Coliseum and a new franchise record for goals in a game.

Growlers fan favourite Todd Skirving led the way with his first professional hat trick while ‘Summerside Sniper’ Jeremy McKenna (2G, 2A) and defenseman Noel Hoefenmayer (4A) both padded their stats in a big way with impressive four-point performances to cap off this historic day in franchise history.
