8) Boland Bursts Onto The Scene With First Pro Hat-Trick

There is always added excitement when a homegrown player gets the rare opportunity to play for his hometown team.

Tyler Boland of Outer Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador joined the Growlers on loan from the Manitoba Moose on March 4, 2022 against the Adirondack Thunder, and quickly made his mark with a goal in his very first game.

But his best performance of the regular season had to wait until March 23, 2022 as the Growlers visited the Thunder at Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls, New York.

Boland caught fire early in the contest and scored the game-opening goal just over five minutes into the opening period. He netted his second of the game on a partial breakaway before the first period ended and continued his historic performance throughout the remainder of the game, before scoring his third goal halfway through the third period for his first professional hat trick.

It should be no surprise that Boland earned first star honours for his incredible efforts as the Growlers downed the Thunder 7-3.
