The Newfoundland Growlers suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time this season as they fell 3-2 against the Adirondack Thunder on Wednesday night at Cool Insuring Arena.
Zach Solow opened the scoring 6:29 into the first period as he finished off a great feed from Zach O’Brien to make it 1-0 Newfoundland after 20 minutes of play.
Orrin Centazzo doubled the Growlers lead with just under six mintues to go in the middle frame as he one-time a sweet O’Brien pass past Jake Theut.
Noah Corson replied for the Thunder moments later as he banked in off Luke Cavallin from a tight angle to cut it to 2-1 Newfoundland after the 2nd.
Shawn Weller equalized for Adirondack six minutes into the third as he redirected a powerplay point shot past Cavallin to make it 2-2.
Shane Harper played hero for the hosting Thunder with just 96 seconds remaining in regulation as Newfoundland lost 3-2 for their second straight defeat.
