Game Story

The Newfoundland Growlers got their first win of the Eastern Conference Final in Game Three as they took down the Florida Everblades 4-1 on Monday night at Hertz Arena.

Keenan Suthers opened the scoring on a Growlers powerplay just past the midway point of the first period before Orrin Centazzo doubled the visitors lead five minutes later to make it 2-0 Newfoundland after 20 minutes.

Todd Skirving brought it to 3-0 Newfoundland 47 seconds into the second period as he fooled Cam Johnson from a tight angle while Isaac Johnson wisely kept and shot on a 2-on-1 rush eight minutes later to make it 4-0 Growlers after 40 minutes.

Blake Winiecki found a breakthrough for Florida with 12:28 left in regulation to cut it to 4-1 Growlers but the Everblades would get no closer as Newfoundland held on for a crucial 4-1 win.
