ST. JOHN’S, NL – The Newfoundland Growlers are proud to announce that forward Isaac Johnson has been named Warrior Hockey ECHL Player of the Month for the month of October.
Johnson, a 23-year-old Andover, Minnesota native, recorded two goals and three assists for five points in two games played against the Trois-Rivieres Lions this past Friday and Saturday.
Under an AHL contract with the Manitoba Moose, Johnson currently leads the ECHL in points (11) and is tied for the league lead in goals (5). His two shorthanded goals also leads the ECHL.
The award serves as the third league accolade for Johnson this week as he was previously recognized as the ECHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 30 as well as the co-winner of the ECHL Plus Performer of the Month, sharing the honour with Worcester Railers defenseman Ryan MacKinnon.
The Growlers return to action on Wednesday, November 2 as they visit the DCU Center to take on the Worcester Railers in a battle between two undefeated North Division teams.
