Growlers Announce 2022-23 ECHL Schedule

ST. JOHN’S, NL – The Newfoundland Growlers, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, are proud to announce the club’s schedule for the upcoming 2022-23 ECHL season.

The club will play a 72-game regular-season schedule including 36 games on the road and 36 games at home at the Mary Brown’s Centre.

Newfoundland kicks off its season at home in St. John’s, hosting their North Division rivals, the Reading Royals, on Opening Weekend on Friday, October 21, Saturday, October 22, and Sunday, October 23.

The Growlers renew their rivalry with the Trois-Rivieres Lions as they kick off their road schedule with the first all-Canadian matchups of the season at the Colisee Videotron on October 28 and 29.

Schedule Highlights

Balanced Look At North Division Rivals – The Growlers home schedule showcases an even mix of matchups against the team’s fiercest division rivals, including six games each against the Reading Royals, Maine Mariners, Worcester Railers, Adirondack Thunder, and Trois-Rivieres Lions.

Spend Your Weekends With the Growlers – Of the Growlers’ 36 home games, 31 will be played on the weekend, including 12 Friday games, 12 Saturday games and seven Sunday matinees.  All home games are scheduled for a 7:00 PM start with the exception of Sundays, which will begin at 4:00 PM.

Two New Opponents Make Their Way to the Rock – The Growlers welcome the Norfolk Admirals to the Mary Brown’s Centre for their first visit to Newfoundland as an ECHL member club on November 11, 12, and 13.  The ECHL’s newest club, the Iowa Heartlanders, will take their first trip to Newfoundland for a three-game series on December 7, 9, and 10.

Getting Reacquainted With Former Playoff Foes: The Growlers will make their first appearance at the Huntington Center since the 2019 Kelly Cup Finals as the Toledo Walleye host the Growlers on December 27. Later in the season, the Growlers return to Estero, Florida to renew hostilities against their former opponents in the 2019 Eastern Conference Finals, the Florida Everblades, on March 22, 24, and 25.

New Cities to Visit – This season, the Growlers will travel to three new destinations for the first time in franchise history, including Kalamazoo, Michigan to ring in the New Year against the K-Wings on December 30 and 31. Newfoundland invades Cincinnati on January 25, 27, and 28 for a trio of games against the Cyclones. Later in March, Newfoundland visits The Scope in Norfolk, Virginia to take on the Admirals on March 30 and 31, and April 1.

Wrapping Up The Season – The club’s final home games of the season will be hot tickets as the Growlers host their Canadian rivals, the Trois-Rivieres Lions, on April 7, 8 and 9. Newfoundland wraps up its regular season schedule on the road on April 14 and 15 in Reading.
