Luke Cavallin named Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week

ST. JOHN’S, NL – The Newfoundland Growlers, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, are proud to announce that goaltender Luke Cavallin has been named the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending November 20, 2022.

Cavallin, a native of Greely, Ontario, went 2-0-0-0 during the team’s recent home series against the Maine Mariners including a 38-save shutout last Wednesday in a 5-0 win – his first shutout as a professional.

He followed that up with another strong outing on Friday where he made 35 stops in a gusty 5-4 overtime win for the Growlers, finishing the week with 1.94 goals against average and a .948 save percentage in two starts.

On an AHL contract with the Toronto Marlies, the former Flint Firebird remains unbeaten to start his professional career, boasting a 7-0-0-0 record with Newfoundland prior to being recalled by Toronto on Sunday.

The Growlers return to action on Wednesday, November 23 as they visit the Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls, NY to face the Adirondack Thunder for the first time this season.
