KEITH PETRUZZELLI NAMED ECHL GOALIE OF THE MONTH

ST. JOHN’S, NL – The Newfoundland Growlers, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs, is proud to announce that goaltender Keith Petruzzelli has been named the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month for October 2021.

Petruzzelli, 22, started the season with a pair of standout performances on the road to begin his pro hockey career. On October 22 in Trois-Rivières against the Lions, he allowed just one goal and made 35 saves to pick up a 3-1 victory, his first in the professional ranks. Four days later on October 26, he turned in a near-identical performance, allowing just one goal on 36 shots, in a 4-1 triumph over the Lions.

Through his two games played, the Wilbraham, Massachusetts native owns a 1.00 goals-against average and a .972 save percentage.

Under contract with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies, Petruzzelli played his last four seasons at Quinnipiac University (NCAA), appearing in 94 career games posting a record of 51-27-8 with 10 shutouts, a 2.17 goals-against average and .915 save percentage.

Petruzzelli becomes the third Growlers goaltender to win the league’s monthly award. Michael Garteig (November 2018) and Eamon McAdam (November 2019) both earned the honour during the 2018-19 season.

The Growlers kick off their home schedule this weekend, November 5, 6 and 7, against the Adirondack Thunder at the CBS Arena.
